As the end to a challenging 2020 approaches, I am happy to share some positive information from TIAFT. The TIAFT Board held its first virtual Regional Representatives Meeting in mid-September and it was a success!

The world has been facing the COVID-19 pandemic for most (if not all) of the past six months. My well wishes go out to all. The TIAFT Board has been working over the past few months to resolve questions related to the impact that COVID has had on our annual conferences. We now can report how future meetings have been rescheduled.

The TIAFT Mid-Year Board Meeting was held virtually over four days in early May. Given the current COVID-19 pandemic, one of the major topics was the 2020 TIAFT Conference scheduled for early November.

The winter of 1776 was harsh and American patriots were facing doubt in their “revolutionary cause”. George Washington’s own troops were ready to give up the fight, so he ordered them to read aloud Thomas Paine’s paper called The American Crisis.

On behalf of the entire Board, I hope you are staying well. As an organization, TIAFT is monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak that we are all facing during this unprecedented time. Our hearts and thoughts go out to the people who have been directly or indirectly impacted by the outbreak.

Later this year, we have an extra special event as the annual TIAFT Meeting is being hosted in Cape Town, South Africa. This is the first time that the organization meets on the African continent and we hope to help ensure that this is a rewarding event for those that attend.  All TIAFT Members that can attend are encouraged to submit abstracts to help ensure a rich scientific program for this historic event.

Well, we made it! It is now officially the decade of the 2020’s. Happy New Year to all our TIAFT friends! I hope you had some time to relax over the holiday season and that your year is off to a fabulous start!

We just finished another exceptional TIAFT Conference…this time in Birmingham, UK. Many thanks go to Simon Elliott and the rest of the UK Team for putting together a brilliant meeting. The science was exceptional, and the networking opportunities were very rewarding. For those that could not join us in Birmingham...
